Goodness gracious! For over three years this blog has been home to LLP. Heck, I wasn't even married when I started this thing and now here we are with a baby on the way!

What has become apparent over time is that my blog gets more traffic than my website, so I wanted it to be the best it could be- a true representation of me and my business. Enter new blog! This has been in the works for more than a year- partly my fault, partly the designers, but now that it is all said and done, I couldn't be more happy! This little blogspot will forever exists in internet land, so don't worry, your post aren't going anywhere! I am linking it up to the new blog so you can always get to it.

Thanks for being on this crazy ride with me for all these years! Continue to follow the new blog for more photo goodness!

Oh goodness. How to begin! Joe and I loved loved loved getting to spend time with Natasha and Matt on their wedding day. It was such a special time with friends and family in from all over the east coast. These two are absolutely amazing and treated us like we were one of the gang while we were in town. If some of the ladies at this wedding look familiar, it's because they are! Matt is Mandy's brother, who's wedding we shot at Childress Vineyards last year:) How fun! I love showing up to a wedding and seeing our past brides! and also feel honored to be shooting another wedding for their family!

Natasha's parent bought an old, historic ship captains home right on the ship yard in Portsmouth, VA. Let me just say this is the coolest/most amazing house I have ever seen! The history of it is incredible and was a great backdrop for our photos...complete with an english garden and wine cellar. I love that we got to take their photos around her home. Amazing! Matt and Natasha had a beautiful outdoor ceremony planned right on the edge of the water, but unfortunately, a MONSOON came in right in time to have to make a change of plans. The hotel where the ceremony was to be held whipped another space into shape and the two of them got married without a hitch! Their reception was held at the Norva, which is actually a music venue, but they totally transformed the space into a magical place for their guests to dance the night away. You two, everything was simply amazing and thanks for letting us be a part of it! Don't forget to watch the slideshow for more photos!

Oh my goodness! How Joe and I LOVED shooting Matt and Natasha's wedding in Portsmouth, VA. One thing I love about weddings that are destination for us is that it really gets the creative juices flowing. Being somewhere new, seeing new sights, it gets me all jazzed up for photo moments! The camera absolutely. loves. Natasha. It's one of those weird photo things that you can't describe, but sometimes coloring, posing, the light, the dress, the day, it all aligns and every photo is wonderful. That was how I would describe our time together- wonderful! Can't wait to tell you more about her wedding and the fun that is her family, but for now, enjoy just SOME of my favorites from her bridal session!

Baby Love- Riley

There is nothing like a brand new baby. Little girl Riley was just 7 days old when we took these photos. She was one of the best newborns I have shot in a while. She was nice and sleepy and let us fuss over her for quite some time before waking up. I know her mom and dad are just over the moon with her, as am I! She is so precious. Darby, an American Sweetheart Returns

Darby has been getting pretty jealous with all the baby talk around here. But, at the same time, she was getting over her low self-esteem, so she hasn't minded laying low for a while. After her "incident", she had to get shaved completely down- hence her hiding. She was embarrassed. But, the haircut was completely necessary since she had briars, cuts, and hundreds of ticks all over her. Poor bear. Honestly, though, she was quite traumatize from her being lost and I truly think she had some post traumatic stress syndrome! I'm not even kidding! Then, add to that a jacked up haircut, and she has needed some time to herself. You know, to heal and reflect.

Thankfully, her hair is starting to grow back in and she is getting all cute and fluffy again. These photos were taken about a month ago, so she is getting back to normal now and ready for the camera. She is going to be her cute little bear self just in time for the annual Christmas photo(get excited)!

Last trip to the lake of the year. She didn't seem to remember that this is where "it all went down".

Family trip to the beach back in July. She loves running while we ride the bike. This was right after her shave down. Eek!

I absolutely LOVED this bridal session! Basically, if your family to be has an awesome farm, I am happy to come on out and take pictures of you in all your bridal goodness on the property:) Amanda's now hubby and his family are farmers by trade and their property in rowan county is absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous fields, cool old farm "stuff", amazing light. I had WAY too many favorites, but here are just a few that spoke to me. The Official Launch- Adair

I am so proud of my little cousin, Sydney! She has been working all summer on the launch of her new online clothing boutique, Adair. The boutique website is set to launch this week! Think 'Anthropologie' meets 'I didn't have to sell my right arm to get it'! To kick off the launch of the website she is having a website and trunk show party in downtown Concord, and YOU ALL are invited! Since the website will not launch until the end of this week, here is the link to the facebook info on the launch party and trunk show that is going to be Saturday, the 24th at The Loft at 14th. She will have all the fall clothing there for purchase that is going to be on the website so you can see,touch, feel, and try it all on! Oh yea, and if you get it there you save yourself the shipping. The party starts at 5!

I shot the promo photos for the website, and I have to say it was a total blast! It was fun to do something a little different than the usual. Our models were awesome and totally rocked their looks. Erica, from Shear Image Day Spa did the models up right with hair and makeup and they looked gorgeous.

Here are just SOME of the looks that you can see at the trunk show on Saturday and on the website after the launch. Can't wait to see Sydney's dream come true! Love my little entrepreneurial cousin!

A few weeks ago I mentored another photographer, helping her develop her photo awesomeness. I have loved doing these mentoring sessions! It is the next step for those who want to learn more, who have a photography business or WANT to have a photography business. All in a one on one atmosphere. I put a call out on my facebook page for "models", and Carey and Steve were happy to oblige! These two were absolutely perfect! We worked on posing and lighting and in return these two got a little Belly Shoot. Seriously, I don't think anyone could have done a better job. Here are just a few of my favorites from our time together. Can't wait for their little one to get here!

Can't believe it is already Friday! The weeks are flying by! There is so much to do around here as we wrap up wedding season(only two weddings left before baby comes) and get ready for mini-sessions and Christmas craziness. I still have lots of seniors to blog! They are going to keep coming for a few more weeks on top of more weddings and some super great bridal sessions. Corey was one of my reps this year and we did his "official" portraits the other week. All I have to say is that if baseball doesn't work out for him(he is super duper great), then he should look into abercrombie modeling. I'm just sayin'. Happy Friday!

{Ginny & Ricky} Charlotte Wedding Photographer

LOVED working with Ginny and Ricky over this past year. It all started with the amazing fall engagement sessions that we shot up in the mountains, still one of my favorites to date! These two are so fun to be around and Ginny is one of the calmest, most easy to be around brides out there! They had a fabulous wedding in downtown Concord at one of my most favorite churches to shoot at- First Pres. It has amazing natural light and hardwood floors IN the sanctuary! Amazing! Their reception was at the New Mint Museum Uptown. I never get tired of going there.

Ginny and Ricky had a little trick up their sleeve....Being the SERIOUS Carolina Panther fans that they are, they somehow managed to get Sir Purr to come and be their official Party Starter! It was so fun and a great way to kick off the reception. They literally kept it a secret from EVERYONE until he made his entrance. Let me tell you, whoever that man is in that huge panther suit sure can dance! You two, congrats on everything!

Ginny's sister MADE the bridesmaids dresses! Yup, you read that right. She MADE them. As if being MOH isn't enough work:) She is a dress designer and has started her own dress design company. Be sure to check her out if you are looking for something totally custom. I know this is just the start of a fabulous career for her!

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! We had some great weather and Joe and I shot a beautiful wedding on Saturday and I could just feel the change in the air, which was so nice! I am hoping my sweaty photographer days are coming to an end here very soon! Wanted to update you all on the dates for Mini-Sessions and The Workshop. I am super pumped about both of these events coming up! When I started planning them back in early august I thought to myself how ridiculous it was that it was so far away, yet here we are! Just a few short weeks!

There are still spots left for The Workshop happening on October 8th. This will be the last workshop until well after the new year. We will have a new little baby to take care of, so I am thinking early summer might be the next one. Make sure and grab one of these spots so you can take fabulous photos over the holidays!

Now, so exciting a cute new product that I am offering. Iphone cases! Yes, I am a apple snob. Yes, I love all things apple. I can't help it! The products are just amazing. And, quite frankly, they just make me happy!! Here is an iphone pic of the latest case I designed and made. I meant to take a "real" camera photo, but life happened and I just got an iphone pic of a new iphone case before shipping it out. Regardless, I think you can see just how fun these cases are! Image the possibilities.....your favorite wedding image, picture of your kids, or pet? Seniors- your favorite senior picture?! I think these would make a great Christmas gift, too;) Every case is custom designed, so the possibilities are endless.

This week has been a pretty fun one!! My birthday was on Tuesday and I have seen lots of fun friends this week and had a great outing to The Cheesecake Factory. A couple of weeks ago I shot Natasha and Matt's AMAZING Norfolk wedding up in VA. I cannot wait to share those images with you, but for now here is their engagement session that we squeezed in RIGHT before the wedding. They had only one day that we could do it, and it decided to rain, of course. These two, are troopers though, and we managed, rain drops and all. Lots of umbrella holding to protect hair! The rain, however, did make it not 900 billion degrees, which was nice. Look for their wedding soon and enjoy these shots!

Announcing the next WORKSHOP- Oct 8, 2011

I am super excited about the next workshop! This will be the last workshop of the year and before new baby arrives! It will be held Oct. 8 in Concord, NC- location TBD. Joe and I love putting on these classes and seeing the "lightbulb" moment when our "students" get how to take amazing photos with their DSLR's. Here is what you need to know:

*This is a beginner photography DSLR workshop.
*What if you don't have a digital SLR? Borrow one and come join the fun! The class is for people who have never "gotten off green" when using their camera to those who have read the manual but still don't completely understand what the heck an f/stop is. We will get you off green and completely on manual mode. We will cover tricks of the trade and all the little helpful hints to help you get great photos of your kids, sports, family time, etc! It is an opportunity to learn how to work all those buttons on that fancy camera you got for your birthday or Christmas. It is not a class to become a professional photographer or for those who already have or work with a photography business.
*There will be lots of one on one time and plenty of time for questions- then we will all practice what we have learned with a LIVE model. *Tuition is $150 and spots are limited. Spots are confirmed when tuition is received.

What can I say about these two? I love them so much...they are so special to Joe and I. We had an amazing time celebrating with Katie and Haskell and sharing these special moments with them and their families. They had a beautiful ceremony in downtown Concord followed by a F.U.N. reception at the amazing Club at Irish Creek- a venue we love working with. Their wedding party was pretty much hard to beat. Truly. So fun to work with and game for anything! Our favorite type of clients! Plus, some past brides were in Katie's wedding party- we love a good reunion! I am so happy to call these two friends. Kendall is a doll and we had a great time on our session. It was hot, I mean really, really hot. Kendall hung in there though! She was in town for a short time from Florida so we squeezed in a session while she was visiting her grandparents and cousins. It would be the hottest day of the year! He smiles, he looks rather handsome in his photos, and when Joe comes to the session with us and jumps out from behind a bush to scare him while I capture it on camera, he is a good sport and just laughs with us while we laugh at him:) True story. I thought about posting the photo, but since Joe looks like a bird in the picture and Riley looks like he just saw a ghost, I thought they might get mad at me. My job is fun:) Enjoy!

Christmas Mini-Sessions

I know it is hard to think about, but with this little baby on the way I am looking towards Christmas already!! I am going to offer my mini-sessions again this year, just a tad earlier than last year. This is the one time of year that I offer 30 minute sessions so they will go fast. These are also the only weekend appointments that will be available from now until the end of the year. Here are the dates! Also take note that I am offering mini's on Columbus Day, I am hoping this day will be helpful to those who have the day off work and the kids are out of school. All sessions are on location in Concord, NC.

Here is what you need to know: Mini-Sessions are $175 and include a disc of the best 30 images. I also turn every image into black and white, meaning your disc will contain 60 photos. Sessions cannot be combined and are for families of 5 or less. If you have more than 5 in your family, you will need to book a full one hour session. Since the goal of these sessions is to get all of your Christmas gifts in order, you will have all of your images within two weeks of your session! Talk about getting a jump start on that gift planning! Email me at lindseyleelancaster@gmail.com to reserve a time and date. Deposits are taken to reserve your spot and the balance is due at the time of your session. Can't wait to take more yummy images in that great fall light!

Courtney and Jayme, I don't know if there were ever two more devout ECU fans out there:) They met at ECU, they love ECU, and they now live near ECU. Their wedding colors were purple and gold and they traveled to and from in a Pirate bus! It was absolutely fabulous! We arranged to take her session down at Lake Tillery and it proved to be the perfect setting for her photos. She is so sweet and we had a great time together- not to mention the fact that we both love Harry Potter and had both gone to the midnight showing the night before our session. She went somewhere cool to see it, I went to Carolina Mall. At least I made it right?! Even preggers I managed to stay awake! I digress...Sarah is so cute and fun and I love her photos. It's that time of year again. You know, the time where me and some really awesome seniors go out and sweat to death for an hour to get some really amazing senior shots:) But seriously, I just love this time of the year! All sweating by all parties aside. I love getting to hang out with high schoolers going into their senior year...hearing about what they are into, getting them to be their natural selves, just having fun together and laughing. Lots of laughing. Kaleigh was no exception...she is a beautiful and outgoing girl that I know will go super far in life with her dazzling personality. We had a blast together. Enjoy this sneak peak! While Jessie's parents were in town for her wedding, they decided to have a little love shoot to commemorate their anniversary. How amazingly sweet!!!! Rachelle and Aaron had such a beautiful wedding at the AMAZING Duke Mansion. I just love it there! It is a wedding venue like none other- classic, timeless, old-worldly, it is just an amazing place to shoot. The grounds are always so immaculate and the staff so helpful. Rachelle and Aaron didn't skip a beat when it literally started monsoon-ing shortly before their outdoor ceremony and right after we had begun the pre-ceremony photos. The staff at the Duke Mansion swung into action, bringing everything indoors, and I have to say it was the best/prettiest rain plan I have ever seen. Everything was still gorgeous and the rain managed to lighten for us to get some photos after the ceremony in the gardens on the grounds. The crown had an amazing time celebrating with these two, and there was so much love in the room that there were many tears as Aaron gave a speech thanking all of those who have loved him so well over the years. How can I even start a post about these two! They are possibly the world's best clients...except for I now consider them friends. Their smiles are truly indicators of the type of people that they are. Smiles, all smiles, all the time. They are infectious. I need to be more like them! Seriously. Jessie and Chris bought my baby his first gift, they are incredibly thoughtful, and they had an amazing wedding with reception at The Point. What more can a girl ask for! When going through their photos, there are so many memories that stick out to me, but the best one being that at their reception, Jessie's dad single handedly started a flash mob. True story. He made up the dance, he got it organized, then he started a flash mob. Who does that?! Awesome Mr. Hansel, that's who! You two, you amaze me, can't wait to make more memories down the road with you!

The Workshop - THIS SUNDAY!

So many of you are interested in the workshop this coming weekend, but you are all at Ocean Isle...or at swim team tournament....or shopping at the outlets at Myrtle Beach, the list goes on! Lucky devils! I am working hard on getting another date set up for all of you that are interested but can't make it this weekend- I am thinking sometime in September or October. Life is getting just a tad crazy as we prepare for the arrival of Baby Boy(we found out!), so I am trying to figure it out quickly. Meanwhile, this coming weekend the workshop is still available and spots could still be had. It is looking like a more intimate affair, but that is just better for those of you that are coming! More attention and time for you! Here are the details:

*The class will be from 3:00pm -6:30pm on Sunday, July 17th.

*There will be lots of one on one time and plenty of time for questions- then we will all practice what we have learned with a real LIVE model.

*Tuition is $150 Email me at lindseyleelancaster@gmail.com to hold your spot. I will email you back holding your spot and confirming with you when the tuition is received.

*Location: The Loft at 14th, Concord, NC

The class could even be for the more serious hobbyist who just haven't quite mastered aperture or shutter speed. Definitely email me with any questions. You can also email to be added to the mailing list to know of the next workshop date. Hope to see you there!

True Love- Tonya and Ian

Love these two! After five years of dating, they are tying the knot! School has been super important to them, but they are both chomping at the bit to start life together, and finally in the same city!! I am so excited for their winter wedding at The Millennium Center in Winston, it is one super fabulous venue and I just love shooting there for the variety it offers. Ian and Tonya were great sports when it came to their engagement session. With Tonya getting her PHd in South Carolina, we were limited on dates she was to be home to meet up with Ian in Charlotte....then low and behold we had some tortuous storms blow through right when we were to do our session. Luckily, they were game for waiting in the car to see if it blew over, and it finally did! A little rain never stopped us from having fun and getting some fabulous photos! Tonya had this great clear umbrella(note to self, get some of those!) and we had fun even when it started raining again. You two! Can't wait for more fun times to come!!

Brooke and Patrick....their love is pure and true. Their day was fun and blessed. Joe and I loved being a part of their special moments and both of their families are just wonderful. Brooke was stunning...and when she is around Patrick, she completely lights up. The day was hot, oh so very hot, but the whole bridal party hung in there and we were able to get some great photos. Their reception at The Orchard House had so much charm and we really hope to get out there again soon!

Love you both! Hope married life is more than you thought it could be!

The most emotional July 4th weekend ever...

If you follow me on facebook or twitter, you might know that we had quite the dramatic weekend. Honestly, I am still reeling from the experience/may start crying just writing this. On Sunday, we had some friends down to the lake for a fun July 4th get together and day on the lake. So many fun times were had- tubing, skiing, and just hanging out with great friends. Darby, of course, had her place of honor on the front of the boat and rode around all day. She just loves the lake- swimming, playing with the other lake dogs, and drinking water from the lake to name a few.

We never worry about her down there, she is so obedient and never is far from Joe or I, even when the other lake dogs are running all around. Around 9 on Sunday night, it was almost totally dark and we were just picking up all of our stuff that was out on the dock and getting ready for the night. Suddenly, very close by(20 yards or so) folks started letting off fireworks unexpectedly. Darby became immediately spooked and took off back down the dock for land. Joe went directly after her calling her and trying to get her to calm down. She was running, and fast, and took off into the shadows. At this point it was totally dark and we couldn't see where she went.

Thus began the longest 16 hours of my life. Seriously. Those without dogs that they totally love might think this is ridiculous, but I cannot think of another time that I have been so distraught and upset. ever. I immediately had a sinking feeling and knew that she had to be scared out of her mind to run and to not listen to us when we were calling her. This started the night hunt that we did for her until 2 in the morning. Luckily, or unluckily, the lake property is not a busy area, in fact very rural. But the unlucky part being that the area is very rural, meaning thousands of acres. Joe started walking the woods at 9 with nothing but a flashlight, and I was looking for her up and down the roads yelling and calling her name. Others at the lake tried to help, but it was pitch dark and only very few flashlights and all of our friends had left. Plus, it was not as big of a deal to the masses as it was to Joe and I that our dog was missing. Lots of "aw, she'll come back"s by many local and friendly rednecks. Though this line of thought proved very unhelpful to me. More fireworks, I knew, were not going to help us find her- and they continued off and on until well after midnight. Still, we look and yelled for her and looked some more. Joe, I know, covered many miles back and forth in the woods with just a maglight. We were so upset and I was trying not to panic quite yet, but couldn't help but just cry at the thought of not being able to find her. I had the worst doom feeling because I knew she was not one to run off, much less just decide to come home if she was that scared. We prayed and prayed. I am definitely not one to waste prayers, but I know the Lord knows how much we love her, though I was resigned to the fact that I know He loves me wether we found her or not. I tried hard not to bargain with Him, but it was super hard not to. I just kept praying we would find her safely.

Eventually we decided to try and sleep and get up at first light to look some more. All night, or the 4 hours we laid down, we kept getting up every time we heard something thinking it could be her. Needless to say that it wasn't much rest, not to mention the fact that Joe got up half way through the night and became sick from all the water that had gotten up his nose from his couple of nasty falls skiing. (I won't go into detail here) At 6, we got up to a completely sinking feeling once we knew she had not returned overnight. And by sinking feeling, I mean a total and complete breakdown. All rationale was out the window and we both were just puddling messes over thinking about our missing bear and how scared she must be. Also, the fact that we know she is a city dog, not a country dog, and her days consist of laying on a padded bed in air conditioning, not being lost in the woods with no food or water. Drinking water out of the lake is as rustic as she gets. After all, she is a Hartsell dog, people! She has a very wonderful life!

With everyone in my family at the beach, I felt even more helpless, but called Leah, the best friend a girl could ask for, to come get me to take me back to Concord so that we could make flyers and so that Joe wouldn't have to be without his car. She came and we were back on the road to Concord by 7:30(it's about a 35 minute drive). We left Joe hunting, while we came to make the flyers. Poor Leah, I cried the whole way home, but she was so supportive and tried to stay calm. It was not a good scene. When we got to the house and I saw Darby's bowls, and then her crate, and then her toys, the breakdown continued. I checked in on her micro chip and even the sweet man at the 24 hr pet watch made me cry even more by telling me to hang in there. Looking through her pictures trying to find just the right ones that showed her shape and size was also heartbreaking.....ones like this of her with her dad made me want to crawl in a hole.

Leah and I made the flyers and headed back down to the lake armed with staple guns, tape, and 400 Lost Darby flyers. This search was no joke people! I had to find my sweet Darby!

By the time we got back, Katie and Haskell had come, Joe's dad had met up with Joe, and Leah's husband Daniel had come as well, so we all split up with the flyers. We put those bad boys up high and low and talked to every person who would listen, was standing outside their house, or looked remotely like someone who would care. So many sweet people gave us words of encouragement, but honestly this just made me cry worse. Every sweet lady in every gas station would say something so nice that I would just cry as I taped up the flyers.

Come 1 in the afternoon, we had put up the majority of the flyers and talked to everyone we could. I was starting to make my plan for the rest of the week....move down to the lake, go get my computer so I could try and work and figure out a way to have someone down there at all times in case she came back. Joe at this point was the walking dead since he hadn't slept and had now been hiking the woods for some 6-8 hours. My mom, who I had called at 6:30am at the beach in a total state of ridiculousness had also just arrived- they left the beach as soon as she could get the car loaded to come help. So she set off with Leah to hang up more flyers. Joe and Daniel had run out of the flyers and had stopped in at the house to get water. I was making Joe sit down for a second, when no more then a few minutes had passed and the house phone rang. We jumped up to get it and it was a man who Joe's dad had spoken with at the nearby Boy Scout Camp earlier that morning, which by the way, is located on 1000 acres. Katie and Haskell had also taken some flyers by there. He called to say that he had our dog! Let me tell you what relief we felt!!!! We couldn't stop smiling, though I really wanted to lay eyes on her before I truly believed it.

The man at the camp had been keeping a lookout when he said he found her in one of the campsites that wasn't being used that week. I could've kissed this man!!! He had no clue how much of a panic we had been in and what it meant to have her back. Darby was slapped dab worn out. Weak on her feet, covered in briars(did I mention poodle fur not the best for woodsy activities) and limping because her poor paws were basically rubbed raw. She had NO energy and I am so glad we found her when we did. I am not sure how much longer she would have made it on her own in the state she was found. Completely dehydrated, her nose was covered in mud from where she was trying to find water in a mud puddle(silly dog, come home and there is a whole lake you can drink out of). I have never felt such dread followed by such elation in such a short amount of time. So, the ordeal was finally over! From 9pm until almost 2pm the next day we searched high and low for her. So many friends offered support and help and I am so thankful to all of them. I know that if we didn't do ALL we could, I would have never forgiven myself if it did not have a happy outcome. And super thankful to our friends who gave up basically their holiday to help us. Joe and I truly truly owe each of you, BIG TIME!

After we had all calmed down, and our adrenaline finally gave out, my mom said to me "Now you know what it will be like when you have a child, how much you will worry....". I said to her, "Oh, now I definitely know!!!!! That nearly killed me!" Which, in hindsight was a good lesson to learn considering we will get to test that theory come December.

That's right, in case you missed it, Baby Hartsell due this December:) We were planning to "go public" this week and this seemed like the right time to announce it after all we have been through this weekend and after all the love and support we were given by so many. If this baby is loved near as much as Darby, he/she will be in pretty good shape....and I can only image how much MORE it will be loved, as it already is so much even right this second. I guess now would be a good time to post the infamous ultra sound photo, but we don't have a digital copy so far and I have another ultra sound next week that will be much more up to date...so I will post one then. In fact, next week we will find out what we are having! I know! I am sure life will be super different this time next year, but we are so excited for the journey and can't wait to see what is in store for us as parents. We have had some time for the news to soak in personally for us, and we are just too excited and can't wait to be a mom and dad and grow our family together. Besides just being super exhausted(oh yea, and this was right around the time LeAnn got married, a nice combination), I have been very lucky so far...no morning sickness, which is how I have been able to keep on keeping on without skipping too many beats. May was a little rough with my fatigue, but that was the worst of it so far. In fact, we have already shot 7 weddings since finding out! If I was a little slow on my turnaround in May and early June, consider this my official apology:) Nobody knew we were preggers and the fatigue had me sleeping sometimes more than I was able to work. All in all, though, it has been a great process for us so far.

As far as weddings this year go, we were pretty lucky in how the whole thing worked out, so we will not miss anything that we already have booked:) So thankful to get to work with all of the brides we have scheduled this year! One thing that may be a little different towards the end of the year would be Christmas photos and Christmas mini-sessions, but I plan on working all of that out soon and posting it on my facebook fan page and then on the blog.

I know this was a super long post with lots of different news, so thank you for taking the time to read it!! We will resume regular photo goodness tomorrow:)

Family Love- Madison and Ella

These two little sweeties are just the best! Madison and Ella are growing up in a major way, last time you saw Madison, there wasn't even an Ella yet. Ella turned one, so we commemorated with a nice, hot photo session:) I think mom and dad were a little relieved they weren't in this one because we were all super busy sweating while chasing after these two. The kids hung in there and really hammed it up for the camera. Love them and love these shots. Happy Friday!!

Before Gean and Joe's wedding, we had decided to do a day after session instead of a bridal portrait for Gean. Boy was I glad we made this decision when the weather on their wedding day was super rainy and freezing cold! We got around to our session a couple of weeks ago, and all I can say is that Gean is my muse(Joe, you're not so bad yourself!) But seriously, Gean is one of my favorite people to take photos of...she makes my job so easy! Joe really hung in there in his tux on the hot and humid day we had. What a trooper! For now, though, the moment you have all been waiting for! Here are some shots from my little sister's wedding. Joe took a lot of these, all the ones here of the ceremony, but I did manage to take a lot, too, in my snazzy bridesmaid dress. The day threatened rain, then cleared, then DID rain, right after Eric and LeAnn walked down the aisle as man and wife. The tent reception was covered, so we were just thankful to get the ceremony complete before the bottom dropped out. A couple of details to share: the flowers, the cake and decor were all by Barbara with From This Day Forward. Seriously, love her. I love working with her, she brings a calmness to every event, and all of that to say that her work is out of this world. Molly with Bella Amore did all the makeup- and let me just say we all looked fabulous!

We didn't get a planner, though in hindsight that may have been a good idea:) On top of the fact that Joe is just the best photographer and husband ever, he also made the cross that was at the end of the aisle. Yup, he is manly like that. He goes into the woods and chops down trees and makes crosses. He's hardcore. It was the exact look I wanted, er, I mean LeAnn wanted:) I have also had a lot of folks ask me about the shrug that LeAnn wore. The short of it is that she and my mom went to Mary Jo's(that gigantic fabric store in Gastonia) and bought lace they thought matched the dress and the dress shop seamstress made the shrug to LeAnn's measurements. I loved how it turned out. Ladies, think outside the box when picking out your dress- you can always add something that isn't there, and I think in this case it totally made her look complete.

Joe and I can't wait to teach the next Workshop! It will be held on Sunday, July 17th, 2011 at The Loft at 14th in downtown Concord. The date was announced yesterday to those on my workshop mailing list, and five of the spots are already taken, so there are now ten spots left. Be sure to email me if you want to reserve your spot today!

Here is what you need to know about The Workshop:

*The class will be from 3:00pm -6:30pm on July 17th.

*This is a class for beginner DSLR users. What if you don't have a digital SLR? Borrow one and come join the fun! The class is for people who have never "gotten off green" when using their camera to those who have read the owner's manual but still don't completely understand what the heck an f/stop is. (if you are reading this and have never even heard of an f/stop, this class is for you, too:)) It is not a class to become a professional photographer, but for those of you that just want to take better pictures with that fancy camera you have and actually understand what you are doing with all those buttons!

*There will be lots of one on one time and plenty of time for questions- then we will all practice what we have learned with a real LIVE model.

I promise we are going to get caught up on here soon! I am finally getting around to posting some of LeAnn's(sister extroidinaire) bridal portraits. She happens to be very photogenic, and the gorgeous wedding dress that I picked out for her didn't hurt either(it's my current claim to fame). Way too many favorites, so here are just some shots that I love. She played around alot with her hair, veil and shrug, so there are all sorts of looks. This is what I love about bridal portraits, the chance to get to try different things to see how you really want to look on your wedding day. Enjoy!

When bestie Kimberly was in town for LeAnn's wedding, little Driggs came along, too! I can't believe how much he is growing!! He is such a sweet and cute little boy. I was super excited to shoot Allison and Matt's vintage glam wedding a couple of weeks ago. Their wedding was in Gastonia and their reception was held at the newly redesigned venue at The Mint in Uptown. This such a cool space I was excited to get out there. The pale pink color palette was very lovely. The flowers were also amazing and the perfect shade.

This past weekend Allison and Matt had a beautiful wedding. I can't wait to share it with you, but in the meantime here are Allison's bridal photos. She wanted something "Hollywood Glam" and had the look to match. I am not the first photographer to shoot at this rock quarry, but wow is it amazing. Meet Amy and Joe, the last in our string of what we now call "The Joe Grooms". Seriously, it was such a weird start to the season to have so many grooms with the same name. Then, add to that the fact that Amy's dad, and brother were named Joe, Seriously?!?! It was pure pandaemonium. I loved it. The day started out lovely, the lake was gorgeous and the Peninsula Club looked beautiful. Then, though, tornado's decided to take place a couple of miles away, bringing with them some pretty nasty storms. Everything had to be moved inside, but luckily we had all of our "before" photos all knocked out. Amy and Joe didn't skip a beat and everything turned out just perfectly. Their friends and family danced the night away and it was such a fun night. Hope you are enjoying married life, you two!

These sweet "kids" bought mom a session for Christmas and we were finally able to get everyone together for their photo shoot. People, I promise the blogging is going to pick up from here! Up now, the amazing Abigail and Joe (yes, I had three Joe grooms, three weeks in a row- that's not confusing at all when you throw my Joe into the mix). Their wedding in Bath, NC, which is outside of Greenville, was absolute stunning and picturesque. For starters, I could stare at Abigail all day. really, but not in a creepy way, I promise. The camera loves her and that always helps to make pretty pictures. Joe and Abigail have been together since high-school, so the wedding was really just the icing on the cake of their relationship. Family and friends celebrated with them, as did my Joe and I. You two, we couldn't be happier for you. These photos make me smile. big. and I hope they make you smile too as you look back on your day together.

Oh Gean and Joe! How I love you both! Joe and I had a fantastic time at Gean and Joe's wedding two weekends ago. They are fabulous, their friends are fabulous, their wedding was simply fabulous. They are both so fun to be around and taking pictures of them was a dream. One little bummer was that is was gross and rainy...the whole day. Lucky for these two, the Hilton uptown has a gigantic atrium with some decent light, so we were able to take most of the photos there. It was a total photo saver! kate with I DO DETAILS was a joy to work with as well. Gean and Joe, lets get together soon! Much Love!

Thailand Travels- Chiang Mai

So before our trip to Thailand becomes a year ago, I am determined to blog more of our personal photos. Here are my favorites from our trip to Chiang Mai, which is in the northern part of the country.

Seeing the elephants was one of our "must do" activities. We spent the better part of the day going to an Elephant Camp and riding the elephants. Now, riding the elephants, this sounds really fun. Joe and I were really excited. We talked about it for weeks. Really. Riding Elephants. It will be a blast! Sounds great! That is, until the elephant you are riding totally doesn't care that you are on his back, insists on climbing down a mountain while you are sitting on his hump to devour rain forest, leaving you at a 90 degree downward angle, 12 ft off the ground, and your new-years-eve-hung-over elephant guide cannot control your elephant and at one point jumps off your elephant and leaves you going down the mountain on your elephant with your fancy camera equipment. All the while, drunk elephant driver beats your elephant with a little pointed stick trying to get it to listen...to no avail. The elephant does what it wants. I'm just saying. Joe and I were both mcguivering ways to "loft" off the cameras and jump down, except that we were on the side of a mountain. It was a pretty intense 2 hours ( I think it was suppose to be 45 minutes). And on top of that both of us super super white people got burnt. So, all that to say: Elephants= Amazing. Riding Elephants= Scary.

Photos of the King and Queen of Thialand. These are everywhere you go in the country. On billboards, on highways, bridges, even in the smallest of towns there are photos of the K and Q.

Elephant painting a painting! This was truly amazing. Some of the elephants painted ACTUAL photos. Seriously, one painted a bunny. That was not by accident!

This week got pretty crazy! There were so many things I wanted to get on the blog that just didn't happen. I was a little bogged down in bridal portraits(seriously, get so excited) and then took a quick overnight trip to see one my best friend's graduate MFA art show in Athens, GA. Tate was such a sweet, sweet baby boy when we took his photo last week. He was bright eyed and bushy tailed for the first half, and then went directly to sleep for the second half of the shoot. Many, many weeks ago I stopped by my sister's new office to take some promotional shots for their new business, Lancaster & St. Louis, PLLC. I love hanging out with LeAnn and Hilary now that they are officially in town and open for business. {Kelli & Drew} High Point Wedding Photographer

What a way to start the wedding season! It threatened rain in High Point, NC all last Saturday, but we never saw a drop and Kelli and Drew were able to have the most perfect day. These two have a calmness about themselves that puts everyone around them at ease and the day just flowed with no stress and all smiles. The reception held at the High Point Country Club stayed hopping thanks to Too Much Silvia. Those guys really know how to get the crowd going and Joe and I laughed and laughed at all of the antics. Wedding season is here! Get excited people! from now until the end of the year so many lovely weddings, engagements and bridals are going to grace the blog. I am so excited about some of the venues we get to shoot at this year and all the lovely couples we get the chance to work with. The kick off began with Kelli and Drew. Shooting Bridals in February can also be a bit tricky, but we headed over to the J.H. Adams Inn, where the two were having their rehearsal dinner for the session. The Inn is so light and airy and provided the perfect backdrop.

Thailand was such an amazing visual experience. The country has vastly different landscapes and we were lucky enough to get to see many of them...from the city, to the beaches, to the tropical forests. We rested, we got sunburnt(yes, we were two of the whitest people in the whole country...at the pool, it wu'nt pretty) we walked, we took naps, it was glorious. With our first wedding of wedding season this past weekend I am immensely thankful for that time of rest we got to have together. resting. reading. eating. laughing. I have the best husband and getting to travel together is one of life's greatest gifts. to us.

Some stages of our trip were super short and others were long and relaxing. Some places we took lots of photos and in others we just took lots of naps. We were in Bangkok sight seeing for just a short time so the photos are few- but here is a look at some photos from when we toured the Grand Palace.

These tiles made up the whole entire building. insane.

Joe MAY just kill me, but I had to post this photo. When touring some of the sights, you were not allowed to wear shorts. So, you have to RENT these pants to put over your shorts. Every time I looked over at Joe I would just start laughing. But what else was so funny is that everywhere you looked men are wearing these pants. It was like a MC hammer convention, in Thailand.

Who can forget Griffin and his sweet little face eating donuts and playing in the creek. Now it is time to meet his sweet sisters! I love these kids- they make me laugh and are such the little models. Their mom purchased a bunch of these on canvas for their house and they were just beautiful- I hope to be able to snap a photo of the display sometime to show you. People, there is no need to be afraid of three 16x20's....the impact is just beautiful!

What to Wear {part 3}

The last session reminded me how I needed to do another What to Wear post! Chelsea, blogger and fashionista extroidinairre, has come up with more great looks for me to share with you! I wanted to blog this set of outfits first because then if you look at the post below, it is a similar look so you can see how it translates in the photos. The Cousins stuck with greens and blues, but you can see that the camera loves those bold colors! I love the impact all of these primary colors make when layered together. The next set of outfits that I am going to blog is more subdued and boho-chic when put next to these- so it is really a matter of choice for you...but the most important thing is that you put a little bit of extra 'oomph' into your photo shoot outfit so that it is sure to photograph like a dream- no matter what sort of style you have. Yes, I am still blogging mini-sessions! These little cousins were just the sweetest! Attention all parents of kids- THESE are the outfits you need to look at for inspiration! All of these little ones were coordinating without being matchy. It was absolutely perfect and exactly what I would recommend for family/kid sessions. Pick a color scheme and go with it- don't worry about things matching or being in the same style. In fact, it looks better if it is NOT the same style.

How can you not be happy when looking at these fun cousins!? Happy Friday!

Expecting mothers all over the world are now completely jealous of her cute pregnant-ness. People, Lauren is 8 months in the photos and she is just so darn cute! Mike, he aint bad either- and the two of them sure do take some pretty pictures! February can be a crap-shoot as far as the weather goes, but boy did we luck out.
